It’s been really great so far. The first couple months, it was hard getting into the swing of having a studio again, but I use it several times a week…
took Frank Santoro’s Comic Correspondence Course, and busted out a rad 14 page comic.
here are a few pages, continuing the MudForest saga. these were done on tracing paper with marker and colored pencil, text and gutters done in photoshop.
Frank has some great thoughts about layout and composition of the page. the process he has you use was really simple and enjoyable, and allows for great editing.

My artwork was a part of the “The Bearden 100” art show by the Romare Bearden Foundation to celebrate the 100th Birthday of master artist Romare Bearden. I picked one of my favorite of his works to go alongside one of my works.

BLAST FURNACE FUNNIES test prints for archival editionYES. Yesterday’s paper experiment was exactly what I was looking for. I just tried the first full-size print on gray Rives BFK paper, and it looks fantastic. It will take many, many hours to treat 112 sheets of paper in order to do my edition of 5 copies (plus one for Frank Santoro and one for me), but that’s okay… the goal is to do justice to the art, not to be efficient. You just might have to wait a little longer to get your mitts on a copy, that’s all.
